Max

We are looking for a long-term foster home for our lovely boy, Max.

When Max came into our care, a heart murmur was detected. Following further investigations, he was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia—a condition where part of the abdominal contents protrudes through the diaphragm into the chest cavity, placing pressure on his heart.

At this stage, surgery is considered extremely high risk. As Max is currently breathing well, is comfortable, and enjoying life, the decision has been made to manage his condition conservatively. He has likely lived with this condition for a long time and may even have been born with it.

If his condition changes and he begins to struggle with his breathing, surgery will then be reconsidered. For now, the risks of operating outweigh the benefits.

Despite his diagnosis, Max is an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and friendly boy. He is quite small for a tomcat, which is likely related to his condition. He will make a wonderful, loving companion for the right home.

Max’s ideal foster home:

  • Indoor-only home (a catio would be a wonderful bonus)

  • May live with a very calm, laid-back cat

  • Older, sensible children only

  • Ideally within 30 minutes of our vets in Grays, where Max is registered, in case he needs treatment

  • All veterinary costs will be covered by us

  • Someone who is home for much of the day, as Max is fed four small meals daily to prevent his stomach from putting pressure on his hernia

  • No dogs

Max is neutered and up to date with his flea and worm treatments and you can meet him in Tilbury.
