Pippa’s Army Missing Ferret Tips

  • To help your ferret find its way back home, place its cage outside with items that will have a familiar smell on them. ...

  • Leave food and water outside for five days.

  • Ask a local rescue if you can borrow a humane trap.

  • Post on local lost and found groups on social media, including ours.

  • Put leaflets through the surrounding neighbours, asking if they could check their gardens.

If your ferret is lost indoors:

  • If your ferret goes missing, it may be hiding amid your clothing, where it is difficult to spot. Carefully remove clothing from drawers to look for your ferret. Go through wardrobes carefully, removing storage bins or boxes and moving aside coats and clothing stored inside.

  • Be sure to check your laundry basket as well.

  • Look under or behind furniture and appliances. Look for your ferret under every piece of furniture or appliance that it may have crawled under or around. This will include couches, chairs, tables, dressers, refrigerators, stoves, and TV stands. Use a flashlight to get a clear look around these areas and to encourage your ferret to come out of hiding.

  • Search for signs of chewing and other damage. If your ferret is on the loose, they may be gnawing on your furniture or stealing food. Look for bite marks, droppings, crumbs, and other signs that could lead you to your ferret's hiding spot.
